Image 1 Salon | Powell River Photography

Image 1 Salon is one of the greatest Salon’s I’ve ever been to.  Why you might ask?  How long are you willing to sit down and read this for?  ;)  They are incredibly personable, they make you feel welcome every time, they remember you and make every effort to get to know who you are, they’re extremely talented, they smile and laugh A LOT, and they always go above and beyond to make each customer happy.  When you go to Image 1 Salon you leave with a smile, every time.  Please “like” Image 1 Salon on Facebook to share the love and to get the latest updates, contests, announcements, etc.  You truly don’t want to miss a beat with them!

These Images are from Image 1 Salon’s VIP Mixer and Hair Show Event they had on March 31st, 2012 with an Enchanted Forest theme.  What an incredibly fun event!  It had such an awesome vibe in the salon that night and everyone absolutely loved every moment of it from the cocktails and mingling to the fashion show and late night dancing!  I can’t wait to see what they do for their next show!

Model Scouting Results | Powell River Photographer

INTRODUCING the winners for the upcoming commercial shoot!

We had such a great response for the model search for the upcoming commercial shoot.  I want to thank all of the great young ladies that entered and that wanted to be apart of this great opportunity.  You are all so beautiful!  The winners have already been announced on Facebook, and yes I am very slow at getting this up on the blog!  It’s been a bit of a hectic couple of weeks for me.  But I’m finally catching up!  :)

Like I mentioned in my post on my business Facebook page, I personally scouted for the male model role. From the very beginning I had one person in mind. I had seen him quite a few times, as I work at the Max Cameron Theatre in Brooks Secondary School part time, and he just fit the look so perfectly.  So I looked everywhere and eventually found him and asked him if he’d be interested!  He was interested!  I was so excited!  Now that I had the perfect male model for the role it was time to match him with the perfect female model.  So… please welcome the first model in our commercial shoot: CHRIS BRINTON!:) He’s tall, handsome and musically talented in many different areas including the guitar, and goes to Brooks Secondary School.  Just wait until you see this guy rock the photo shoot!

As for the female role, this girl had to fit perfectly with Chris.  Now it was all about him and matching him with the perfect female model.  I needed someone who could potentially have great chemistry with him in front of the camera.  As soon as I saw the pictures of one of the girls that applied for the position, I immediately thought “how perfect is she?”  She fits the description, the look, and she fits perfectly with my male model!  I even got the opinion of my Finance and Project Managers and they both agreed that these two were absolutely perfect for this shoot! So please welcome the second model in our commercial shoot: RENEE RASMUSSEN!:) She’s beautiful, feminine, has the petite frame that I needed for this particular shoot, has an awesome energetic and bubbly personality, and I can see her and Chris getting along great.

CONGRATULATIONS to my two awesome models!  This is going to be a great shoot!  I’m super excited about it.  The shoot will be happening in the next 2-3 weeks!  Stay tuned for pictures!!!:)

MODEL SEARCH | Powell River Photography

Lately it’s been a bit gloomy out.  Cold, dark, cloudy, wet… you name it.  It doesn’t help the mood and it sure doesn’t help to motivate.  But don’t worry!  Smile and be happy that we aren’t buried under 10 feet of snow!  I would take this any day over a huge snow fall!

I have just recently moved and it has given me some time to organize, relax and get comfortable in my new home.  It has also given me lots of indoor time (due to the weather) to do some fun stuff like play the guitar and work on some personal projects as well as commercial projects.   And I’m getting excited!  Regarding the guitar… I am by no means a musician of any kind.  The only thing I can play right now is the Flintstones theme, the Harry Potter theme and a verse or two from Somebody that I used to Know.  And if you ever asked me to play I would make a thousand mistakes before I would be able to run right through it and have it sound decent!  But hey, it’s a lot of fun and I’m loving just messing around with it.  Regarding the personal and commercial projects: I am currently looking for MODELS!!!  This is what excites me and what keeps me going even on the gloomiest day!  I get to daydream about up coming shoots and go crazy with fun ideas!  So here it is… The model search begins!

BeautyBliss Magazine | Powell River Photographer

This is it!  The BIG REVEAL that you’ve all been waiting for.  It’s been years in the dreaming and one month in the making and it’s finally here!  Introducing the BeautyBliss Magazine by Beauty & Bliss Photography!

We’re so excited about this new launch of our online Magazine.  It’s full of inspiration, motivation, and photography of course!  I wanted to create a magazine that makes you feel good when you read it.  One that inspires you to go out and live your dreams and make things happen for yourself.  Each magazine will have more and more inspiring articles that make you want to sit down and read it and soak up the inspiration.  And it’s not just for photographers… it’s for everybody!

One of the greatest parts that I’m most excited about is the fact that I will be showcasing current photo shoots within the magazine which gives some of my High School Senior clients a chance to be in an online publication!  That would have been pretty cool to be a part of something like this when I was a teenager.  Especially to make the front cover like Brittany Kenmuir, of Brooks Secondary School, for the very first BeautyBliss Magazine launch!  Congratulations Brittany!

Mother Daughter Shoot | Powell River Photographer

Two of the most Beautiful girls | Powell River Photography

Marina was one of the winners of the Bootlegger Ballot Contest Beauty & Bliss Photography ran in the Summer.  She contacted me at the PERFECT time, just after my shoot with Brittany, right before Christmas, and the sky was promising numerous cloudy days (my kind of lighting)!

I had chosen a bench as the main prop and we had to get it out to the location just minutes before the shoot and pick it up a day later.  It was heavy and was much easier getting it there as we used a dolly.  But picking it back up to bring it home was a bit more of a challenge as we didn’t have the dolly.  We needed three of us (from my crew) to carry it back and load it on the truck.  It was a bit silly really, that it took three of us, but it was cold and we were tired.  But I have to say that the bench was well worth it even though it only made it in a few shots.

And poor Mya was so cold.  The wind coming off the ocean was a little too chilly and her little hands and cheeks were feeling it.  Luckily I over prepared and brought a super soft comfy blanket with me.  This worked great as Mya was able to smile again for a few more shots and she was comfy and warm cuddling with her mommy.

At one point during the shoot I asked Mya who her best friend was.  She looked at me and turned to her mom and pointed “She is.”  Now that’s awesome.  You can tell that Mya will feel that way forever, that her mom is her best friend.  They are so close and love each other more than anything in the world.  It was awesome being able to photograph them together.

Say hello to beautiful Marina and her cutie-pie daughter Mya.
